The Delaware Sea Turtle Project held a ceremony last week to recognize the Loggerhead as the official State Sea Turtle. Riaan Patel of Allen Frear Elementary was awarded 1st place in the Elementary Art Contest Category for Kent County. Aiden Smith (2nd Place) and Madysen Myers (3rd place) of Caesar Rodney High School were Kent County winners in the Sea Turtle Essay Contest, as well.
 
The Delaware Sea Turtle Project was launched this spring by State Senator Stephanie Hansen, who worked with the Dept. of Education, DNREC, the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Marine Education Research & Rehabilitation Institute to raise awareness about the environment and aquatic life among Delaware school students.
