  • **SPECIAL SCHOOL BOARD MEETING, TUESDAY MARCH 2 AT 6:00PM VIA ZOOM**

Public Comment Will be Addressed on 2021 Middle School Realignment Proposal and
Leasing of the Former St. Thomas More Academy

A special School Board Meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 2, at 6:00pm to discuss the impacts of the pending lease agreement for the former St. Thomas More Academy campus in Magnolia, and the resulting need for the realignment of middle school attendance patterns.
Once lease terms are finalized, the District plans to create a Middle School for grades 6-8 at the former St. Thomas More Academy. In order to equitably divide the student population the District has contracted with the University of Delaware to analyze the current boundaries and attendance patterns for Fred Fifer III and F. Neil Postlethwait Middle Schools. This review was designed to determine how to best realign the attendance boundaries to ease the student growth at Fifer and Postlethwait while creating a sustainable student population at the former St. Thomas More Academy. The UD study can be reviewed by viewing the PDF files found below.

Public Comment on the proposal will be accepted and included in the March 2nd meeting. Please send your comments through this email link: Realignment Questions.

This realignment planning does not impact any students who currently, or in the future, would attend the Dover Air Force Base Middle School.

The attached draft proposal documents outline the realignment proposal.
