    This is a list of the Before and After School Activities that are offered at Welch Elementary.

Chorus Welch Chorus is an extra-curricular activity which provides an additional opportunity to sing with a group and to begin to learn singing in harmony. Mrs. Walls is the director of our Welch Chorus. She will invite selected students in grades 3, 4 and 5 who have demonstrated an interest and ability to sing on pitch to join the Welch Chorus. Math League Students in 4th and 5th grade stay after school once a week to practice math literacy. 4th and 5th grade
Maypole Students in grades 3-5 can participate in the traditional style of Maypole Dancing. This style consists of children skipping around a Maypole with colorful ribbons and colonial costumes. The end result is a weaving of their ribbons on the maypole. Students practice before school at 7:20 AM starting in January. Odyssey of the Mind Odyssey of the Mind is offered to grades 3-5. This program promotes creativity and problem-solving in a variety of areas from building mechanical devices and balsa wood structures to presenting dramatic and technical performances. Odyssey of the Mind develops team building skills, divergent thinking, presentation and organization skills. The program provides a caring, supportive environment for team members to develop positive values, self-esteem and social competencies. 3rd, 4th and 5th grade Mr. Flaherty
Student Council The purpose of student council is to help share students' ideals and concerns with teachers and school principal, by allowing students an opportunity to share in the decision making process. Our council members promote respect for law and order by emphasizing citizenship, democracy and carrying on our schools traditions and customs. Safety Patrol Safety Patrol is open to 5th graders who show responsibility and interest in keeping our school safe. They are placed at positions around the school in the morning and in the afternoon. 5th grade only Mrs. Walls
