Fifer Middle School (FMS) has one designated Charlton classroom. Charlton students at Fifer are integrated into a variety of school activities and classes with their typical peers. Some of the inclusion opportunities include Keyboarding, Essential Arts, PE, Chorus, Career Fairs, Dance Buddies, Unified Sports, Riders Reaching Out, and Very Special Arts (VSA). Fifer Charlton students have recently visited with the CRHS CAD classroom for lessons in rockets and robots. Charlton students at Fifer value vocational experiences and participate in weekly Agriculture and PAES (work skills) labs at the Charlton site. They are also active with vocational opportunities within the Fifer school building, such as with their assembly of items for the school’s Backpack Program. Charlton students at Fifer cooperate with the other offsite middle schools (DABM and PMS) in CBIs (Community Based Instruction) around units of study, such as the Fire Hall for Community Safety, Fifer Orchards for the Life Cycle of Plants, and Texas Road House for Vocational Skills.
