Ms. Kathleen Fitzgerald - Principal

Ms. Kathleen “Katie” Fitzgerald is the Principal of David E. Robinson Elementary. She earned her Master’s Degree in Severe Disabilities and Elementary Education in addition to her Certification in Educational Leadership from Wilmington University. She began her career in the Milford School District and has taught grades 1-5. After ten years of instruction and Special Education Case Management she earned the appointment of Associate Principal in the Capital School District at the Kent County Community School. Katie is entering her fourth year as a Principal in the Caesar Rodney School District. She views herself as the “steward of the school” and is proud to serve the students, staff and families of the community.

Mrs. Ashley Matticks - Assistant Principal

Ashley Matticks is in her fifth year as an Assistant Principal for the Caesar Rodney School District.  She began her education career as a special education kindergarten teacher, but also taught middle school special education as well as kindergarten with the Spanish Immersion Program.  She then became a teacher of students with autism and severe disabilities. During her teaching experiences, in 2016, she was named Seaford School District’s Teacher of the Year. She then accepted a position in the Caesar Rodney School District as a Program Coordinator and later became the Assistant Principal for the John S. Charlton School. She joined the Robinson family this current school year as the Assistant Principal.

 

Ashley received a Bachelor of Science degree in Behavioral Science in 2008; a Master of Science in Management and Public Administration in 2012; and a Master of Science in Special Education Autism Certification in 2014 from Wilmington University. In 2017, she completed the Principal Preparation Program as a certified administrator at the University of Delaware.  She then also completed all course requirements for her early Childhood education certification.

 

Ashley enjoys spending time with her three children as well as being actively involved in the community. Working out at the gym, swimming and her children’s sports and activities are just a few things she enjoys during her free time.
