Postlethwait Middle School (PMS) has one designated Charlton classroom. Charlton students at PMS are integrated into a variety of school activities and classes with their typical peers. Some of the inclusion opportunities include PE, Family Consumer Science, PMS field trips, Career Fairs, school dances, talent shows, Unified Sports, Riders Reaching Out, and the Very Special Arts (VSA). PMS Charlton students also help run the school’s PBS program and tables at lunch. Charlton students at PMS value vocational experiences and participate in weekly Agriculture and PAES (work skills) labs at the Charlton site. They are also active with vocational opportunities within the PMS building, such as with their cooperation with the Ag classes with planting and cultivating the gardens. Charlton students at PMS cooperate with the other offsite middle schools (DABM and PMS) in CBIs (Community Based Instruction) around units of study, such as the Fire Hall for Community Safety, Fifer Orchards for the Life Cycle of Plants, and Texas Road House for Vocational Skills.
