Smyrna High School hosts one CR Countywide Program class for high school students who live in the Smyrna School District. The intent is for our students to participate and be integrated within their “home” community.
Students participate in a variety of inclusion opportunities which include:
-PE I, Plant Science, Painting and Drawing, Lunch Buddies, Reverse Inclusion/Educators Rising, Peer Tutors
-Community-Based Instruction, such as to the YMCA and Home Depot
-SHS Events: I Love Smyrna day, TLP nights at sporting events, Spread the Word, Rock Your Socks, and Pep Rallies
-DART practice in the student’s exiting year
-Unified Sports: Highlights include playing at the University of Delaware for the State finals for flag football!
Other highlights of the program are parent training evenings and participating in and presenting at Delaware State University as part of the Educators Rising symposium.
Our Charlton TLP students at Smyrna High School participate in on- and offsite work-based learning opportunities which include:
-Current: Middletown Walmart, Willey Farm, and Townsend Church
-New: Restore, Premier Physical Therapy, Outright Auto, and In-Home Daycare
Another vocational highlight of the year is preparing and participating in the GET SET competition at Delaware State University.
