College and Career Readiness

Curriculum and Instruction

What is College and Career Readiness?
A student who is ready for college and career can qualify for and succeed in entry-level, credit-bearing college courses leading to a baccalaureate or certificate, or career pathway-oriented training programs without the need for remedial or developmental coursework.  However, not all the same skills are required for all students.  A student's interests and post-high school aspirations influence the precise knowledge and skill profiles necessary to be ready for postsecondary studies.

What Career and Technical Education Classes or Pathways are offered in CR?

In Elementary School, students begin exploring careers during classroom counseling, library media, and other career exploration experiences.

In Middle School, students have the opportunity to explore specific courses that align to the High School pathways in Caesar Rodney.

In High school, there are a variety of career pathways offered so that students have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a concentration of interest, and, if continuing in the program, earn the possibility of  early college credits, industry-recognized credentials, and work experience while still in High School. Some of these pathways include:

  • Agriscience
  • Business
  • Technology Education
  • Family and Consumer Sciences

In addition, Career and Technical Student Organizations are utilized to enhance this experience for students.

Some of the offerings include:

  • National FFA Organization

  • Business Professionals of America (BPA)

  • Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA)

  • Technology Student Association (TSA)

  • Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA)
  • Educators Rising
