    THE SCHOOL DAY

     

    School Hours: Doors open at 7:15 am. Students have 15 minutes to go to their lockers, eat breakfast, and arrive at their first period. First period begins at 7:30am. Dismissal is at 2:30 pm. Students should not be left on school grounds prior to 7:10 am or after 2:45 pm unless previous arrangements have been made.

     

    School Security: Once classes begin at 7:30 am, only the front entrance to the school is left unlocked. Visitors and students must come into the front office to sign in.

     

    Picking up and Dropping Off Students: Between the hours of 7:15-7:30 am, and at 2:30 pm dismissal. We ask that parents pick up and drop off their students at the rear entrance of the school (Center Street). NEW POLICY: FOR ALL STUDENTS SAFETY, DROP OFF AND PICK UP IS ONE WAY ONLY. YOU MUST ENTER THE DROP OFF LINE IN THE WEST CENTER STREET ENTRANCE ONLY. WHEN EXITING, IT IS RIGHT TURN ONLY DURING DROP OFF AND PICK UP HOURS.

    Any time you sign your student in late or sign your student out early, please come into the front entrance and see the attendance officer in the main office.

     

    Lockers: Every student will have his/her own locker. Most, but not all, lockers will be near the students’ academic classes. Some lockers will be located in the essential arts wing or in the Guidance hall.

     

    FMS Sports are gearing up for the new year! In order to participate, DIAA physicals must be turned in to the nurse by the first day of tryouts. You can get blank copies in the main office and in the nurse's office.

    To RISE UP we are asking all FMS people to be the BEST Riders and show Respect, Integrity, Selflessness and Excellence no matter where you are in the building, on the bus, on the athletic field, at home, in the car and at the stores. Who can showcase the RISE UP attitude?  Who can be the best Rider?

    Students coming off the bus --- please take care of your responsibilities:–take absent/sick notes to the main office–take physical sports forms to the nurses' office–take lunch money to the cafeteria–eat breakfast before going to your locker or first periodcharge your chromebooks at night so you are ready for daily school work.Be PROACTIVE for your day and set yourself up for SUCCESS!!

    Announcements for Clubs -- Organizations -- Band -- Sports:

    Congratulations to the girls field hockey team on their 1-0 victory over Milford Middle School.  Our lone goal was scored by Maddy Beron assisted by Angelina MacDonald.  Madison MacDonald and our defensive backs shut out the Milford Buccaneers with outstanding play.  The win was most definitely a team effort.  Well done!

    Congratulations volleyball team! They won their first set 25-10 and second set 25-9! 

    The Fifer Boys Soccer team opened up their season yesterday at Milford.  Unfortunately the Riders came up short losing 3-0.  Captains Matthew Plews and Miles Goff lead a young team that battled through the matches.  Goalie Ryan Cholewa stood strong in goalie facing 15 shots with 12 saves.  

    Attention 6th grade band students:  There will be a music lesson in the cafeteria on MONDAY September 18th 1st period is Flute, 2nd period is Clarinet, 3rd period is Saxophone during the mentioned periods.  You do need your instrument for this meeting.

    It just takes a second to drop overdue books off in the library on your way to lunch or essential arts, gym or buses. Please turn them in quickly!! You need to turn in ALL library books to the library no matter what school you took the book out at :) 

    Reminder to all students if you have not turned in your Chromebook, please bring your Chromebook to the library. You need to do this so that you can be given a Fifer Chromebook and get repairs done to this new chromebook by our IT person.

    If any 7th and 8th graders are interested in participating in FCCLA this year, please see Mrs. Carroll in room 126 before Friday morning to sign up for the interest meeting that will be held Friday during 4th period so you can get a pass. There are a limited number of spots available and it is first come first serve.  Again, Friday during 4th period, 7th and 8th graders are invited to come to the FCCLA interest meeting in room 126 but there are limited spots, and it is first come first serve so please stop by to sign up before Friday morning.

    Attention NJHS members Please be sure to check the schoology page (all members from last year have already been added) We will not be holding our first meeting until sometime in October. In the meantime please be sure to log any service hours you have completed, hour tracker can be found in the schoology page.

    Anyone interested in Odyssey of the Mind, please check in with your 7th period teacher and then come to room 105 for a quick meeting and to get an information flyer for your family.  You will be returning to your 7th period class.

    Fred Fifer Theatre Company will be holding an interest meeting for 2023-2024 school year on Tuesday, September 19th from 2:45 until 3:15. If you attend, please ensure you have a ride to pick you up at 3:15.

    CHANGE IN DATE: ATTENTION STUDENTS PLANNING TO ATTEND THE Technology Student Association (also known as TSA) TSA INTEREST MEETING! The meeting date scheduled for September 14th has been moved to next week Thursday September 22nd  from 2:30-3:30PM. TSA is open to any techy, critical thinker, or problem solver interested in STEM competitions in the 7th and 8th grade. If you would like to learn more, please come to this interest meeting. If you can not attend the meeting, please stop by 128 before your lunch to receive additional information.  

    FALL PICTURE DAY is MONDAY, September 25th. You will get a photo packet to explain all the details.

    Your First School Dance is Friday September 29th from 6 to 8 pm. Enter through the front cafeteria door. It will cost $8, including dance and open gym. Bring extra money if you want a snack.

    Students please get your Media Permission FORM and your Acceptable Use FORM signed and turned into your homeroom teacher by Monday. Teachers if you have these forms, please turn them into the library.

    Interested in FFA Organization??? We are going to host our first meeting on Tuesday, September 26th from 2:30-3:30. We have the state officers coming along with the high school officers to help run stations in which students can do fun, leadership, and communication-based games. Any questions, see Ms. Bell in room 151.
