State Testing Week April 26th – 30th! Please follow the schedule provided and enjoy SPIRIT WEEK! STUDENTS and TEACHERS let’s have some great SPIRIT staying in the school dress code.
*EVERY DAY IS HAT DAY (must wear those thinking caps!)

Thursday: Purple Day- It’s A Purple Up for Military Kids Day

--DeSSA Testing: Students will be assessed in a small group of 12 students or less with a staff member. CDC protocol will be followed.
*Does this count against my child or the school? No, not this year.
*Will this count against my child’s attendance if they do not come to school throughout the week? No, as long as they complete their asynchronous work.
*What does my letter to exclude my child need to say? Simply an email stating that they wish for their child not to participate in the assessment this year sent to firstname.lastname@example.org
*What if my child is absent on the day of the assessment? They will not take the assessment.
--The third marking period report card will go live on HAC on Wednesday, April 21st. Please check your student’s progress on Home Access Center and reach out to his or her teachers with any questions.
--Attendance is important for learning! Email email@example.com should your student need to miss a day or a period or two with the reason for the absence.
--You, as a Fifer student, can capture what goes into the 2020/2021 Fifer Yearbook by uploading pixs, surveys and quotes through the new schoology course on your laptop. The yearbook is $30. --Science Kits are available in the front lobby for all grades! Each grade has a marked box. The doors will be open daily from 7:00 am – 6:00 pm.
--Technology Ed Kits are available in the front lobby, if that is your essential arts class for this marking period.
--Art Kits are avaialble in the front lobby, if this is your essential arts class for this marking period.
--Parent drop-off and pick-up is at the back of the building ONLY
--Students coming into the building for hybrid are expected to wear a mask during school and on the bus. Students are recommended to bring 2-3 masks to school. Gaiters are not considered a mask. Attached are COVID-19 guidance questions you should take into consideration when your student(s) begins to return to hybrid instruction next week.
--Students coming into the building for hybrid instruction need to bring their computers, their chargers, ear buds and a notebook or paper and a writing utensil. Please label your computer and charger with your name! Students in school will not be zooming but will need to access their online materials.
---Students should shut down their Chromebooks each night and plug them in for a full charge the next day! This will also allow for important updates to occur once the Chromebooks powers back up!
--Students coming into the building for hybrid will be required to carry their items with them throughout the day… no lockers! Cell phones should be off and in backpacks. Backpacks and coats will be placed on their chairs.
--All hallways and stairways are one-way (many arrows helping to direct you). People too! All halls are marked for social distancing as well.
--Classrooms are marked for social distancing. Student desks should be facing the same direction. Students coming into the building for hybrid are expected to use their assigned desk; teachers have established seating charts.
--Restroom use will occur during class. We will use hallway cones to determine restroom use. Blue for boys and Red for girls. Students coming into the building for hybrid may not use the restroom during class transition; we are unable to monitor for safety during that time.
--Hand sanitizer is located in every classroom. Most classrooms have sinks for hand washing.

GAMES FOR FMS SPORTS:

--Outdoor sporting events, especially those on Marker’s Field, we ask spectators to park in the back parking lot of Fifer Middle School versus along the road by the field. We have a lot of spectators walking across the street and visibility is an issue. We need to keep our students and community safe.
--Attention ALL STUDENTS: Here are a few reminders of the Fifer Middle School dress code. Tops cannot be halter tops or shirts that show your skin, such as the belly area or low chest area. All bottoms (skirts & shorts) must be longer than your fingertips. The holes in jeans that are above your fingertips, must be covered. Gentlemen remember no headbands. Remember rules after watching Dress Code video in your content classes. This week is your opportunity to ensure you are following the dress code. Students who do not follow the dress code will be sent to the office. Remember do not leave home wearing anything that is not within the dress code.

4) Password is 1st letter of first name capitalized, 1st letter of last name lower case, student id (with leading zeros if needed to bring number to 7 digits), followed by dollar sign (no spaces).
If you are a guardian or parent and do not have your own login and password, please stop by the main office and they can set you up with entry to this information.The cafeteria is accepting money for your students’ lunch accounts. If you have any money (cash or check), report to the cafeteria as soon as you enter the building in the morning. If paying with check, please write the child’s full name, team, and grade level on the check. PLEASE do not wait until lunch time. If you are paying online, please go to http://www.PayPAMS.com. Stay informed about your student’s lunch account at your own convenience.ALL Students: You must turn in your absent and sick notes when you return to the school to AVOID lunch detention. It needs to be turned in immediately first thing in the morning as you enter the building.
