Ms. Kim Yanacek

This is my 32nd year as a teacher, and I spent many of those years teaching German, English/Language Arts, Spanish 1 and Yearbook.  German has been the consistent subject area for me, and has also proven, year after year, to be the most fun!!!  When you walk into my classroom, expect the UNEXPECTED...I am not a traditional classroom instructor.  It keeps the students interested and on their toes, and keeps me young!

Ms. Kit Smoot

I graduated first from Louisiana State University in 1978 with a B.S. in Psychology and worked as Social worker in Louisiana for some years before meeting my Norwegian husband and moving to Norway for 20 years. During those years, I learned Norwegian and worked for a Norwegian oil company, spending my summers traveling in Europe. During my travels, I renewed my interest in classical and medieval Latin so that when I returned to the States in 2000, I returned to LSU and earned three more degrees, receiving my Master’s degree as a Holmes scholar in 2004. My path led me to teach Latin at Caesar Rodney High School ten years ago, and since then, I have studied in Italy as a Fulbright Scholarship recipient and upheld my commitment to provide quality Latin instruction in public schools.  I hope that my students can also become life-long learners and find meaningful links between Classical languages and culture and the modern world.
