     Dr. Kevin Fitzgerald

I hope this issue of the CR report finds everyone safe and well. Although it seems like years ago, this issue includes pictures of our students celebrating “Black History Month,” the “100th day of school” and the musical “Cinderella”. Now we practice virtual fire drills and our lessons are taught through a variety of online platforms. Yes- It is amazing how in just the blink of an eye, everything that we have come to expect from school has changed. Yet, through these challenges, we have learned and have grown. We appreciate the goodness in those who leave the safety of their homes to prepare and serve food to those in need; those who have reached out and cared for those who are most vulnerable; those who continue to work and keep our buildings clean and safe; those who drive vans to drop off the needed materials and supplies; those who have prepared the computers and set up the schools as internet hot spots; those who have spent countless hours setting up our remote learning platforms and providing professional development for our teachers and administrators; our teachers, paras and administrators who continue to do all they can to help their students learn and grow; and all of our parents, who have accepted a greater role in the educational process. It is truly inspiring to see how everyone has stepped up to meet the needs of our children. Now, while these are certainly challenging times, I want every student to know that they are not alone on their educational journey. They have the entire community ready to provide support, guidance, and help in any way. To the graduating class of 2020- You are not forgotten! You have overcome adversity to earn your high school diploma and I promise you, that your graduation will be one of the most memorable in the history of the Caesar Rodney School District! Now, should anyone have any questions about our remote learning programs, please contact the District office or any of our schools. I look forward to the day when our schools reopen and I can once again visit classrooms to see our teachers and students doing what they do best – teaching and learning! Until then stay safe and stay well!
