    HEALTHY CONNECTIONS – Active after School – The amount of time a child is outside is directly related to how active they are. Encourage your child to stay outside for an hour before dinner and play. If they have no playmates in the area, encourage them to be creative on their own or take the time to play with them. Here are some ideas for activities they can do in that hour: *Bake *Skate *Jump Rope *Run *Swim *Fly a Kite *Play Hopscotch *Dance *Toss a Frisbee *Play Kickball *Play Tag *Play Catch *Play Soccer *Play Hide-N-Go-Seek


    LATE STUDENT PICK-UP – As a friendly reminder, Welch Elementary does not have after school care. It is IMPORTANT when you are going to be late to pick your child up that you make arrangements with your emergency contact(s) to pick them up. Your continued understanding is appreciated.


    WEATHER – The time of year when weather conditions could start to change is fast approaching. On inclement weather days please DO NOT call the school to see if there is a delay or closure. The District Global service will call our families when schools are delayed or closed. The following radio/TV stations are also available - WDOV (AM1410), Eagle 97.7, WDSD (92.9), WBOC-TV (Ch. 16) and WMDT-TV (Ch. 47). Closings are posted continuously from 6:30 – 8:30 am.


    CHILDREN & FAMILIES FIRST is offering FREE parenting classes for families with children birth to 17 years of age. Please contact Ms. Wuller, School Counselor, at 674-9080, ext. 200 for more information.

    The State of Delaware is experiencing a severe bus driver shortage
    and the Caesar Rodney School District is taking proactive steps to keep our buses running. 

    With the alignment of bell times for both the secondary and elementary schools,
    we have dramatically increased our efficiency as each bus can service both sets of schools.

    Double runs means fewer drivers are needed and cuts transportation costs as well.
    Furthermore, the bell time alignment allows for more middle school students
    to attend high school classes for distance learning experiences.

    The change was made out of necessity - primarily due to bus routes being refused
    or dropped by our bus contractors and their inability of finding bus drivers.

    After a community committee studied the issue, a decision was made to change start
    times so that we were still able to provide transportation services to our families.
